Angel Hare's Learning Adventure is a playable visual novel released for itch.io's Spooktober 5th Annual Visual Novel Jam. Set in the Angel Hare universe, it follows the player playing through several minigames in order to collect three tickets to ride a hot air balloon. The game is fully voice-acted, with the original voice actors from the web series returning to voice their characters. In context of the Angel Hare universe, the game was created by AW.O.L. Interactive.
The game was notably voted the 5th-best game of the competition in terms of voice acting.
Gameplay[]
The game is a simple, linear visual novel. Although the player can choose between several different options, they only result in some different dialogue and the story remains the same.
Plot[]
The player is first greeted by Angel Gabby, who introduces the player to the game. Upon starting the game, it will redirect the player to a book where the player could put their name in to create a new save file. However, no matter what name is inputted, the save file will always be "Jonah" and will not be recorded.
Gabby then introduces the player to her world. She notices a hot-air balloon had arrived and tells the player to obtain three tickets in order to ride it, pointing out the three locations the player needs to visit.
The first location is the forest, where Francis requests the player's help to deal with some demon hares in the form of a whack-a-mole minigame. However, not a single demon hare appears, and in order to speed up the game, Francis gives the player his ticket despite not completing the minigame and tells the player to keep it a secret.
The next location is the stream, where Angel Zaggy (while reading a newspaper and being oblivious to the entire situation) "instructs" the player to clean out the pond by matching the letters on the lily pad to create a word. The world spells out "cheater", and the player receives the second ticket.
The final location is Gabby's home in the clouds, where the player watches clouds with her in the form of a matching game. Upon completing the game, Gabby becomes suspicious and questions whether the player earned all the tickets legitimately. Deducing that Francis had lied about his ticket, the two returned to the forest to confront Francis, who admits his deception due to his fear of his own inner demons. Although Gabby forgives Francis, she tells the player to click on the mallet, and after doing so, seemingly uses it to punish Francis. However, it was revealed to be a simple bonk on the head. Francis promises never to run from his personal demons ever again as Gabby gives the player the final ticket. The player rides the hot-air balloon as the credits roll.
